Special Edition: The 1700th Anniversary of the Nicene Creed – Evangelicalism, Confessions, and Unity

The year 2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed, a foundational statement of Christian orthodoxy that continues to shape theological discourse. This milestone invites renewed reflection on the role of creeds and confessions within evangelicalism. How do creeds and confessions contribute to unity while preserving theological freedom and diversity? Do they foster conformity or inspire nonconformity? Can they serve as instruments of both cohesion and individual autonomy?

This special issue seeks scholarly contributions that explore how creeds and confessions function within evangelical traditions, particularly about doctrinal identity, ecclesial unity, and the negotiation of theological diversity.

We welcome submissions that examine the historical, theological, and practical implications of creeds in shaping a shared faith while engaging contemporary challenges.
